People always notice Iina’s ink stained fingers and wide, friendly smile. She has a melodic laugh that fills a room. Her face looks very youthful, and her expression is always warm.Personal Style
Iina wears long, modest, simple dresses in bright, colourful, floral prints. There are sometimes ink stains on her sleeve cuffs, and the hems of her skirts are often dusty. She keeps her hair back in a high bun, but it is always messy. The only jewellery she wears is a simple gold cross on a chain, but it is always hiding underneath the neckline of her dresses.Circumstances
Currently
Iina takes pride in her work as Never’ telegraph operator. She loves all the little interactions with others and being able to give gentle kindness to the friends and strangers who pass through the office. Even some of Never’s demons feel a little fondness to the way that she smiles as she passes them their telegrams. Focussed on the little details of life, she spends her days guiding those who are lost in the most practical of ways. There are bigger things in life that she probably needs to tend to, but she is happy in her little corner of Never.Health & Capabilities
Most of Iina’s days are spent at a desk, so she is not particularly fit or strong, though she is healthy. Because of her distractible nature, she often forgets to eat meals, so she is very slender and can on occasion find the heat of Never to be a little too much. She feels emotions very deeply, which means she can find it very hard to mentally deal when she can’t help as person as much as she would like to. Some of the events of her past have exposed her to lots of human suffering, so privately she has lots of bad memories that she can’t let go of.Socioeconomics
With telegraph operators being such skilled workers, Iina earns a decent wage for a woman. She is not rich by any means, but she is able to be independent, living in a comfortable but tiny cottage. Iina, ever the dreamer, does occasionally overspend on grand ideas and helping people, so there are months were her budget is tight, but she doesn’t have to go hungry.Skills & Talents
Typing – Iina is an exceptionally fast typist, and can type accurately whist also holding a conversation.Telegraph operation – Iina is a skilled telegraph operator, and she enjoys her job immensely. She has an uncanny ability to tell when a message is about to come through.
Listening – she is a reliable shoulder to cry on, and is very skilled at making people feel like they have been heard.
Craft – in her spare time, Iina has dabbled in many crafts like embroidery, and while she is not an expert, she really enjoys keeping her hands busy.

History
Despite looking less than 20, Iina is at least 100 years old, though she has never taken the time to actually count. While she has gone through many human names, over the past two decades, she has always gone by Iina, for its simplicity.Iina first came to Earth in the mid 1790s, taking on the role of the matron of an orphanage in London. From the ways her fellow angels had spoken to her, it was the kind of place she could achieve lots in a short period of time, there were many young souls who could use some kindness and help to find the light. However, Iina was not prepared for how horrific conditions were. Children were living in cramped conditions, with minimal food and very little love from anyone. The children always felt a close connection to Iina, they looked up to her and she was often a trusted confidante for their secrets and ideas. However, the overwhelming, inescapable conditions were too much for Iina to handle and after 5 long years, she disappeared without a trace.
She tried a few other institutions across the world – hospitals, asylums and even a convent – but every time she became exhausted by the enormity of the problems that she was faced with. Iina prayed and spent time off Earth, trying to work out what the right path was.
In a small country town in Victoria, Australia, Iina decided she wanted to try something different. She married the town’s post master, and spent her days helping customers solve their life problems at the same time as sorting their mail and selling them stamps. Finally, she felt like the problems she helped solve were manageable. People came out of their way to see her friendly face. While the gaunt faces of the children she met in London haunted her dreams, she felt satisfied with the many small miracles she performed. Her work was cut short when her husband died, only 4 years after Iina had married him.
In 1880, Iina appeared in Dallas, Texas with nothing but the dress on her back and a scrap of paper advertising telegraph operator roles across the country. After spending some time in Dallas to learn the trade, her exceptional skills and her kindness were noted by her boss. As a favour, he allowed her to pick a town out of a list of places with vacancies, and because Iina knew a little about the town’s demonic presence, she immediately choose Never, New Mexico.
